نبذة عني
معلّم في آيتاكي منذ 15 May 2020 I am a native of Colorado in the USA. I have been an educator for many decades now, and have worked exclusively with students using English as an additional language. At present, I am the principal of an international school in Yangon, Myanmar. The students are from all over the world, and the language of instruction is English. I work with teachers to help them meet the needs of their students in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
I was a teacher for many years, and for the past ten years or so I have worked in leadership roles, most recently as a principal in Yangon, Myanmar. As an educator, my greatest strength is my ability to connect with people. Because I have lived in many different countries and experienced so many cultures, I see how people are mostly the same, no matter where they grew up or where they live. Finding the richness in diversity, and celebrating the ways we are all the same and uniquely different, as well, has enriched me greatly, and helped me tailor instructional practices so that all students succeed.
I use a variety of materials, but my experience has shown me that authentic teaching is how we learn best. As I learn a little bit about my students, I can construct activities that are relevant to their lives and that they can connect to. Only when learning is meaningful does it become long lasting.
