Hi! I'm Lewis and I'm an English teacher from the U.K., based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I completed my CELTA Teacher Training in 2015 and my Teaching Diploma (DELTA) in 2019. I also have a degree in Modern History from the University of St Andrews. I'm interested in literature, music and philosophy. Aside from teaching, I enjoy creative writing projects, live music and travelling. I have been a teacher since 2014 and have taught in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Budapest (Hungary), Almeria (Spain), Oxford and Edinburgh (U.K.). My speciality is in improving natural oral fluency. I believe that it is vital for students to be able to communicate in the real world, so I place a lot of emphasis on the way we speak naturally. All sorts of grammatical distinctions and clarification are found through these natural discussions. I have taught all ages from 5-70 across a wide range of levels. This includes exam preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge First etc.), business and conversational English. I can provide homework and post-lesson feedback in all courses. My main focus is on learning what is going to benefit my student the most. Therefore, it is important for me to learn what sort of knowledge/experience each student has, but, importantly, also what they don't. The best way to discover this is through conversation, careful note-taking and feedback. My speciality is in Task-Based Learning (TBL), though I have a lot of experience with more traditional models of grammar and pronuncia...

Another fun and useful lesson with Lewis, I appreciate how receptive he is to the types of exercises and activities I want to do, which makes his lessons very dynamic and targeted to my specific needs. He is very encouraging and uplifting. Practicing English with him is always a pleasure rather than a chore.

As we are delving deeper and deeper into the secrets of the English language, things are getting more challenging and Im all about that, Im always up for a challenge! Lewis does not disappoint, he definitely pushes me to do better without ever being stern or impatient. Cant wait to get closer and closer to my goals with his pivotal help!

Had quite a lot of fun during this lesson. It was nice for once to just go over some topics of interest and discuss them freely. It also helps me become more fluent and allows me to articulate my opinions in a more clear way. I feel the work Im doing with Lewis is proving highly beneficial to my English knowledge. Im definitely happy to be a regular student.
