NOTICE: My schedule is a little unpredictable at the moment, so please message me about lesson dates and times. Hi there! My name is Andrew. I am from the United States. I grew up speaking both English and Japanese in the household. I went to a Japanese elementary school, then to American schools thereafter. I studied Asian history as an undergraduate and graduate student. I love traveling, hiking, comics, anime, movies, writing, history, and philosophy. I have taught history (US, European, World, Asian) to elementary school children up to university students. Along with teaching history, I have taught English and Japanese to children and adults. I genuinely enjoy teaching and want to connect with more students. My lessons will focus on listening and speaking, i.e., conversations. We will decide on a topic that you like prior to the lesson, which can be based on a text, video, audio, or anything you like. I can offer materials or you can propose them. In the lesson, I will ask questions, go over key phrases, and have you speak about the topic. I will take note of your strengths and weaknesses and will review them at the end of the lesson, and provide strategies for you to improve. When you schedule a lesson with me, please tell me your goals, how you have learned the language so far, and interests. I am very flexible and will adapt my approach according to your needs and desires.

I'm a little worn out to write in a foreign language, so please excuse me for resorting back to English. We talked about tons of stuff today, like learning languages, motivation, our experiences - it was really fun! Thank you, Andrew, for putting up with all of my mistakes and listening patiently - I think correctness is important, but sometimes, just having someone listen to you without any expectations can give you a bit of a confidence boost. Highly recommended for anyone who'd like a relaxing, fun, and a great learning experience talking in Japanese!

Thank you for the wonderful lesson today. Time flies quickly. I want to be able to express what I want to say in English more. I’ll keep on trying! See you in July when I come back from Japan.
