I've been a teacher and a tutor for 10 years now and, during this time, I've concluded that having a great time is the best way to learn. I started tutoring people in language and in math during my university days, and early on learned that patience is a big factor in making the student(s) learn comfortably. This comes from my experience at my secondary school where due to the high amount of cultural exchange and engagement you begin to understand that everyone has a different way of understanding things. It is also because of these experiences that I believe that the practical sessions are a little more important than the theory aspect of things. Hence I tend to put more focus on actual practicing of the speaking by having regular conversations so people are more adept to the everyday usage of the language.

I have been a Teacher on italki for several years. Before that I studied languages at the University (English, Spanish, French). I have a certificate for teaching languages to adult learners, but my experience expands to helping younger students with their school subjects (History, Literature and foreign languages). I also helped students from all over the world (mostly doctors and software developers) with job applications in Germany. I'm a Chinese native speaker who obtained the TESOL certificate when I was about 21 years old. When I was 23 years old I went to Taiwan alone to further my studies. While living in Taiwan, I teach English part-time to primary school kids, also some university students. I love kids but teaching them is very energy-consuming, so throughout my experience, I realized I enjoy more teaching young adults XD (I still love kids, I do haha!) Even though I'm not currently teaching any language but teaching is still a huge part of my life, it is my passion! I love teaching and seeing my students improve under my guidance! I graduated from Universidad de Concepcion, Chile. There I studied a B.A. in English Teaching, which also provided me a Teaching License. Two years after graduating I entered a post-graduate programme in Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language. I worked for three years in Chile in universities and language schools, and from 2010 to 2016 I lived and worked in Moscow, Russia, There I was an English and Spanish teacher in language schools and a private tutor in both languages. In 2015 I started teaching online through a Russian agency that allowed me to change the way in which I taught my private lessons. I already have 3 years of experience teaching online, but only with Russian students.

I have taught English to Speakers of Other languages for 15 years, mostly in secure institutions. For the students I teach, English is essential to access education and employment within the UK. I have taught students from complete beginners and upwards. I am used to teaching reading, writing & speaking & listening skills. I specialize in beginner A1 students through to intermediate B2 and above. My delight is in seeing a student develop from struggling to articulate themselves in English, to being able explain confidently what they want.

I have taken great interest in teaching techniques applicable to dyslexics and that is also the topic of my dissertation. I love hands-on approach, always trying to get to know my learners to see what approach suits them best and what type of learners they are - visual, auditory or kinestetic. I always aim to adjust my lessons to the needs of the learners. I care about my students and want them to always get the best out of their time with me. Therefore, I accept a maximum of 7 lessons per day because pass this number, I would be too tired and would not be able to offer my 100%. I want my students to get no less than that! My first job was as a primary school teacher in London. Then I taught in Japanese cram schools, before doing a masters degree. Once I had the degree I moved to working in universities in Japan. After leaving Japan, I moved to France where I teach online and grade academic English writing tests. I spend 10 weeks every summer working at the University of Glasgow on their pre-sessional programme. I lead a team of teachers whose job it is to help students achieve a 6.5 or 7 IELTS level so they can study for a masters degree at the university.
