I am an English teacher from Edinburgh, Scotland. I have been a professional musician, DJ and sound engineer for most of my adult life but recently attained a CELTA qualification at the Cambridge approved CES school here in Edinburgh. I love to travel, snowboard, write, climb and meet new people! I am a very friendly and patient teacher that loves to teach in a studious but fun environment. I specialise in eliciting language from students about subjects that interest them. I love to teach students from all backgrounds and countries as I am fascinated in learning about new cultures and learning about new subjects. I also love writing and editing other peoples work, so I am very happy to help with any kind of writing from academic to creative. During my CELTA course I taught groups of all nationalities in both intermediate and upper intermediate levels. Since then I have also taught one on one lessons to upper intermediate students. I am happy talking about many different subjects from art to politics and everything in between. I can teach various different grammar techniques: verb tenses, sentence structure, articles, clauses etc. I use the 'Learning Teaching: The Essential Guide to English Language Teaching' by Jim Scrivner as a basis for this as well as my CELTA training. I am also a big fan of the 'dogme' teaching style, as I believe that letting students speak as much as possible is key for them mastering a language

I have taught students from all ages and abilities in challenging mountain environments. These experiences gave me a unique perspective on teaching as I had to maintain a level of safety and professionalism, whilst also making sure the lessons were fun and engaging.

I had a 30 min trial lesson with him. He gave me chance to speak during the class and explain myself. He tried to understand which parts of my English knowledge need to be improved and took some notes about this for the next classes. The time passed very fast. Laurie is a really friendly and kindly tutor. I recommend him :) Laurie ile 30 dakikalık bir deneme dersim vardı. Bana ders boyunca konuşmam ve kendimi açıklamam için şans verdi. İngilizcedeki eksikliklerimi anlamaya çalıştı ve bununla ilgili notlar aldı. Zaman çok hızlı geçti. Laurie çok arkadaşça ve kibardı. İngilizce pratiği için onu öneririm :)
