Hi! I'm Delaine, a South African teacher travelling in South America. I love being a TEFL teacher, since it enables me to learn so much about different cultures and countries. I am 24 years old and prior to my teaching career I studied Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics. Needless to say - I am a math geek! Some of my hobbies include photography and sewing. I promise that my teaching skills are much better than my video editing skills (; I can't wait to meet you! Although I am still a young teacher - I try my to make my classes the best that there is. I have been teaching for one year both in person and online. I also have two years of tutoring experience from when I was in University. I really love to learn more about my student's culture and traditions as I get to know them. I aim to make my classes meet each individual student's needs. Whether you want to focus on listening, speaking, writing or conversations - you name it! I believe in a topic based approach. This means that we select a topic and work to completely understand it with videos, readings, listening exercises, conversations and games. Only once the student feels comfortable with all the vocabulary, grammar and phrases - we move on to the next one! I really like it when my students give input on the topics that they want to learn about, since I think the only way to learn effectively is by being passionate about the work.

we discussed surveillance, personal data, Facebook scandal and of course coronovirus in different countries. Booking a lesson with Delaine you can expect having full her attention. I mean even being so busy she finds time to send me an interesting video to discuss! She is wonderful and there is one thing I'm worried about: she's getting more and more popular so one day it can be difficult to book a lesson with her :)
