About Me

Hi, my name is Darrell, but if you prefer, you can also call me Zhentan, which is my Chinese name. I was born and raised in Beijing, China. I graduated from Middlesex University London with a master's degree in Marketing and a bachelor's degree in Project Management. I love to play badminton, listen to music, practice martial arts etc. As a new graduate from the university, I have limited experience in teaching. However, I took part in the CELTA training and acquired the certificate after obtaining my degrees. I believe that I will become a good teacher, as my CELTA tutors assessed: I'm a patient teacher who would make my students confortable during the lesson, I'm able to respond to the feedback and improve my lessons and teaching skills, and most importantly, I am motivated as a teacher. I appreciate the atmosphere of a communicative and student-centered approach. Instead of just teaching the knowledge, I would attempt to involve learners by eliciting from them, as I think this is a better approach to enable learners to remember and understand the knowledge. I would also design proper lessons according to different needs of learners. I can help you to practice your reading, listening and speaking abilities. I can prepare casual lessons as well as lessons more structured, as the way you like it.
