About Me
italki teacher since Jul 23, 2019 I'm from Newcastle in North-East England and it's fair to say that I am crazy about languages! I started learning German and French at school which is when I started to see languages as a hobby - I then studied chemistry at University, a year of which I spent at the University of Freiburg in Germany. I enjoyed my time abroad so much meeting new people and improving my language skills that I knew I had to move abroad again after graduating, so I've just moved to Sweden to find a job and improve my Swedish. When I'm not learning languages, I'm a keen musician and love cycling, walking in nature and travelling.
For the past few years, I've been volunteering with young people in schools to improve their confidence with English. During my time in Germany, I worked for the Red Cross as a learning mentor for a young refugee where I provided English conversation practice and helped him with his schoolwork.
My current long-term goal is to become a schoolteacher. As a language learner myself, I understand the difficulties and challenges with learning a language and will be able to help you regardless of how old you are.
I believe the best way to learn languages is to speak it as soon as possible and exposing yourself to the culture through music, TV, films etc. I want our lessons to be fun, and I want you to get the most out of it - I will carry out the English lessons entirely in English and will focus on conversation practice. I will also write down new vocabulary/concepts in a doc...
