What can you expect from me? A fun way of learning and practising a language by just having fun conversations, using documents, pictures that you can describe and by asking random fun questions. In that way you'll see you already know more than you probably first expected! I love languages and helping.. And apperently i'm pretty good at explaining something! Growing up, i always had a fascination for foreing languages and people. In Holland you see a lot of different nationalities, so it wasn`t hard to find people that spoke other languages. I quickly learnded English and later Japanese and Spanish! (I have 2 kids, i help them with their Dutch & English as well! So i have XP with kids).

I started tutoring people in language and in math during my university days, and early on learned that patience is a big factor in making the student(s) learn comfortably. This comes from my experience at my secondary school where due to the high amount of cultural exchange and engagement you begin to understand that everyone has a different way of understanding things. It is also because of these experiences that I believe that the practical sessions are a little more important than the theory aspect of things. Hence I tend to put more focus on actual practicing of the speaking by having regular conversations so people are more adept to the everyday usage of the language.

I've been a teacher for 6 years now. I gathered my theoretical knowledge during my academic education (Master of Arts in Linguistics and Literature French/Spanish). However, it is mostly my practical experience which allows me to provide practical and hands-on tutoring (Specific Teacher Training in Languages and 6 years of experience as a French teacher).

Here in China I found a lot of people, both kids and adults that wanted to speak or learn from foreigners. As such I slowly learned how to teach people. Now I feel confident to teach English as well as Dutcha Teaching is a lot of fun to me, seeing students grow from beginners into full native speakers is great. As such I want to teach more people here on Italki Hier in China zijn er veel mensen die Engels willen leren. Zij vroegen mij of ik hen kon helpen omdat ik een buitenlander was. Daarom ben ik gaan nadenken hoe ik hen kon helpen. Nu 7 jaar later ben ik er zeker van dat ik mensen kan helpen om een vreemde taal te leren. Ik hou ervan om leerlingen te zien groeien in een taal.

I'm very easy-going in terms of contact and interaction, but I do believe in the power of scheduled learning. There's no fixed road to success when it comes to languages. If it's your goal to write recipes in Dutch while living abroad, then great, let's focus on what you need to get there! Once we establish why you want to study the language and which methods work best for you, we should find out how it's easiest for you to commit to studying the language. I like to do this by integrating moments of practice into my daily schedule, for example by changing the language of my phone or computer or actively thinking bilingually while doing groceries.

After having obtained my bachelor's degree in applied linguistics (Dutch-French-Spanish), I've started teaching languages, especially French, privately in 2016. I was lucky to have the opportunity to improve the language skills of 6 different students in different time periods. I'm eager to use my teaching skills, developped by giving the offline classes, in your online classes.

As a teacher I always set the goal to teach at international school level with the highest expectation while keeping a fun, proactive and interactive teaching and learning approach.

Ik heb ervaring met lesgeven doordat ik dit heb gedaan op een middelbare school als stage. Ik volg momenteel dus de opleiding tot docent Engels, met de motivatie om ooit in Japan aan het werk te gaan als leraar. De passie voor talen leren en mijn drang om mensen te willen helpen, zijn absoluut een motivatie om tot dit beroep uit te komen.
