I am a published sociologist, mother, wife and daughter. For the last ten years I have been living in South Africa, a country from which I emigrated to the United Kingdom at a young age. After completing my education in England, I migrated to Spain where I taught English for ten years. Currently, I am completing my doctoral dissertation in sociology on unpaid work in low-income households, with farm-working women in the deciduous fruit sector of South Africa as case study, Social Reproduction as theory and employing a mixed-methods approach.

My teaching experience began as an assistant in a Daycare. I was teaching 2 & 3 year olds and it was fun! That was the turning point for me. I've always recognized the impact a teacher could have on a student because of how my teachers inspired me. But in that daycare, it was the students that had an impact on me as a teacher! If a student does not attend a scheduled lesson, the scheduling system blocks the lesson time and does not allow teachers to offer that lesson time to another student.
