I've been teaching German and English for more than three years and I've taught students from all over the world. For me, every student is special and I prepare every lesson based on your individual needs and goals. I also want to make my lessons fun and I put a lot of work into my students’ confidence to speak. Because in my experience, if you really want to learn a new language, you have to speak it as much as possible!

I have been teaching German as a foreign or second language for 20 years. and have tutored people from all walks of life, ranging from university students through corporate executives. I am very flexible in scheduling sessions, over the the weekend and throughout the week. I learned English and French in an interpreter school and attended classes in Japanese and Arabic. This taught me the challenge of learning a language.

Before we start with the lessons, I will evaluate your current level and your goals with learning the language. I will also find out what kind of exercises and assignments you prefer, as I am well aware, that every student needs a different approach. I am a very patient teacher with a good sense of humor who is convinced, that it´s a lot easier to learn a language while having a good time. During many years of teaching German as a second language I gathered a big pool of different teaching materials and I will find the right stuff to get you on track in a fun and easy way :o)

I started teaching German to international students in 2009 as a private tutor during my university studies. During that time I realized that this is my true passion, because I love to work with people and seeing progress in my students makes me feel proud and truly happy. After graduation I took several courses to become a professional teacher and soon got a job at a reputable high school in Taiwan. Besides teaches classes, I still tutor private students and currently I am on a temporary leave to travel the world, while still tutoring online and funding my dream through italki.

I started teaching German when there was a refugees wave in 2015. I helped countless migrants achieve C2+ level in German and which went a long way to improved their job prospects. I am now currently living in Australia teaching several people from all over the world. I noticed there is a high demand for German everywhere. I have also been teaching people on the Internet and face to face. I have experience with all age groups and people that knew nothing to advanced learners.

I use mostly my own specialized materials for teaching, but also some books and online material to explain any topic as clear and effective as possible. I realized that I loved teaching. Since I didn't go through the normal route to get a teaching certificate in college, when I finally did start teaching I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best teacher I could be and to really reach my students.

It is very important to me to tailor the content to the students´ wishes. I make sure to give my students the time they need and I also use humor and creativity to activate learning. At the same time, I take great care to communicate clearly and concisely.

Germany as the center of Europe has a strong influence by foreigners and their language. So when I grew up I developed a very nice sense about the differences in language by my Russian, Turkish, French, Polish, Arabic and Chinese friends. In University I gained the experience of how to be a teacher as I was giving tutor classes to my co-students. Over the years I developed a good sense about the problems my students have and how to help them understand in an easy way. I love to help people and it is a pleasure to find solutions and grow with them together to success.

I have been tutoring languages on and off, in person and online, since my days in Gymnasium. At university I studied German linguistics (and literature and philosophy), so we won't let grammar get in the way of things.

Since living in Melbourne, I have been teaching German via video chat or in face-to-face sessions. My students come from all over the world, from various age groups and have different skill levels. I really enjoy meeting people and teaching them my native language. It is important to me to create a friendly and judge free atmosphere for my students where they feel comfortable just speaking and asking questions.

I believe learning should be fun. I´m not a professional teacher but over the years I got quite a few opportunities to teach German and English for fun (sometimes, in Myanmar, for example, also for cookies...) and every single time it was a very special experience. To become an even better teacher I´m currently enrolled in a 6 months online TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) course.
